Egypt

Cats

Cats were a very holy animal durring the New Kingdom. They had temlples and statues. The Goddess Bastet was the protector of all cats and children. They were called miws. At first cats were pictured as a linx of lion. Eventualy they were pictured as tiny domesticated hunters. They replaced hunting dogs at this time. Statues were placed outside of homes for protection from evil spirits. Cat Tombs had many bowls of milk and fish lined up for the spirit. Often cats were killed as offerings to The goddess Batset.

Thanks for not only taking the time to write this, but to even improve the information by making it easy to read and understand. Words cannot convey my gratitude.
